Hotel Report November 2020
Performance Analysis: October 2020 in Some Major Destinations in Germany
For the second time this year, we have decided to cross out the trend barometer for the coming months and instead describe expectations as a general feel.
The reason is the same as in the spring: the trend barometer is collected on the 26th of each month, and on October 29th everything changed with the decision for another lockdown.
There were (small) first steps in the right direction, such as the first B2B trade fairs held. But the turning point came when the Corona traffic lights turned red.
The comments of our local hotel partners reached us after the announcement of the 2nd lockdown. They reflected the whole range of what people in the hotel industry are currently experiencing: Engagement, disappointment, frustration, hope, fatalism…
Under normal circumstances, October could have been a good month throughout Germany with the autumn vacations and as a fair/business month for the hotel industry. However, with the second wave of COVID-19, month ends with an occupancy rate of 32.3%, an average room rate of € 84.80, and a RevPar of € 27.80 nationwide.
