An Autumn of Trade Fairs
Germany is the world’s leading marketplace when it comes to running international trade fairs. It is obvious that this also benefits its domestic hotel industry.
This year we have often spoken about the fact that 2015 has not been a good trade fair year for the hotel industry because many of the events held biennially take place in even-numbered years. In fact, seven of the top ten trade shows are absent this year. That worsens the performance at many trade fair destinations. However, not every destination is affected, and like everywhere else, there are winners and losers. In this report, we have decided to consider the autumn of trade fairs in 2015 and – using a number of examples – to look at the real significance of these events for the hotel industry. We also take a glimpse behind the scenes at examples of pricing strategy and service.
Besides this, we analyse the hotel performance of the past month and venture a forecast for the next three months.
