Hotel Report January 2021
Performance Analysis: December 2020 in Some Major Destinations in Germany with Annual Review of 2020
I’m sure you’re familiar with the old gambler’s rule “new round, new luck.”
We will probably need a little luck as well since the new 2021 has already proven to us that we can not expect a very quick end to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the new year has begun with a lockdown just like how 2020 ended.
Therefore, the January 2021 edition of our Fairmas Hotel Report is again an abbreviated evaluation of the hotel market data. Same as last month, we have decided not to publish the trend barometer and not to ask our hotel partners to comment on it.
However, our dear readers know that Fairmas Hotel Report in January is never really short.
As every year, after the monthly evaluation of last December, we dedicate ourselves to the annual review 2020. On nearly 26 pages, we have compiled the events and performance figures of Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne/Bonn, and Munich in 2020 for you and completed it with graphs on the monthly growth values of occupancy, ADR, and RevPar.
So, take a moment and review with us.
Let’s review how the past year started, which A-destination was able to regain some momentum in the summer months of 2020 and which destination comparatively struggled to regain its strength during the restart after the spring lockdown. This will help you to identify patterns and gather helpful information for your decisions in the future.
The December accommodation ban, combined with the Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays continued to cause hotel performance to drop sharply, causing numerous hotel closures in January 2021, just as it did in spring 2020. Nationwide and across all hotel categories, the occupancy rate reaches just 9.0%, the average room rate, ADR closes at € 70.10, and the RevPar is € 6.30.
Enjoy reading and stay healthy!
