Hotel Report April 2021
Performance Analysis: March 2021 in some major destinations in Germany
Now it is finally decided – the uniform pandemic protection regulation is valid all over Germany.
For the hotel industry, however, nothing has changed. March did not end on a positive level for Easter tourists. The long-awaited openings were postponed.
The trade show industry had also postponed the major trade shows. With ‘IFA (Consumer Electronics and Home Appliance Fair)’ and the ‘IAA (International Mobility Platform), things are supposed to get back to normal in autumn. In fact, the article titled “Messeplatz Deutschland in der Pandemie” (Germany as a trade fair location in the pandemic) by the Tagesspiegel also mentioned a “huge demand” for the Munich Oktoberfest 2021.
A note on the April edition of the Hotel Report: in addition to the graphs of growth rates in occupancy, ADR, and RevPar March 2021 versus 2020, we also show a second graph, colored in gray. This one shows growth rates compared to March 2019 – the pre-previous year, which was still completely unaffected by Covid-19.
March closed a little better than February. Nationwide and across all hotel categories, the occupancy rate is 12.6%, the average room rate (ADR) is € 68.60, the RevPar is € 8.60.
