Hotel Report September 2020
Performance Analysis: September 2020 in Some Major Destinations in Germany
Now the vacations are over. Although Germans developed a passion for travel for their own country in this time, it was not enough to build up optimism for the A-destinations. However, it did help the leisure hotel industry in Germany for sure.
International tourism was lacking across the country – including Berlin and Munich. So, it is not surprising that the price war has started in order to attract guests.
How does it go on? Probably slowly and painfully.
Although (at least currently) trade fairs do not belong to the category of restricted major events and may take place with the appropriate hygiene policy based on the respective infection incidence and country-specific peculiarities, some (many?) organizers opt for a hybrid or even completely digital concept.
Supported by domestic tourism, the leisure hotel industry was able to gain some traction. However, this is hardly visible in the overall balance. This was primarily due to the cities’ current trade balance. August closes with an occupancy rate at a value of 44,6 %, an average room rate at a value of 87,00 € as well as a RevPar at a value of 39,00 € nationwide.
A good start into the autumn season and above all, stay healthy.
